Girinath is a pioneer in cardio thoracic,he is presently the Head of department at Apollo Hospitals and has over 45 years of expertise in infants, coronary bypass surgery,multi valve replacement and cardiac transplantation.He was the very first surgeon to apply heart, lung machine-supported Coronary Angioplasty in India and was also a part of first multiorgan transplant in India.He has been awarded with numerous prestigious recognition including Hon.Padma Bhushan award.He has over 275 national and international publications to his credit.He has trained over 30 cardiac surgeons who conduct a large percentage of cardiac surgeries in the country today.He played an essential role in standardizing CABG procedures in India and has performed over 29000 of them,a total of over 40000 cardiac procedures.
